The alliance between Ecodes (Ecología y Desarrollo) from Spain and ADDAC (Asociación para la Diversificación y el Desarrollo Agrícola Nacional) from Nicaragua, expects to place carbon credits in the voluntary carbon market.
ECODES Foundation has had a strategic alliance with CEDECO- Cam(bio)2 since 2009, in developing different activities in the management of emissions of greenhouse gases.
CEDECO- Cam(bio)2 implements its methodology in organic cocoa and coffee farms, associated with the cooperative Flor de Dalia, in the town of El Tuma - La Dalia, in north Nicaragua. This project will be carried out with the support of ECODES and ADDAC, whose technicians will be in charge of field work.
Currently ECODES office in Nicaragua is beginning a big project funded by Obra Social "La Caixa". The project's main goal is to contribute to the socioeconomic and environmental improvement of the population of El Tuma - La Dalia, streamlining the organizational, productive and business processes across the value chain of cocoa, rice, honey and passion fruit in the cooperative Flor de La Dalia.
In this project ECODES wants to highlight the work that organic cocoa and coffee farmers are doing to mitigate climate change, and its partner ADDAC is interested in financing projects in the climate change issue and train their technicians in this theme to promote new ideas.
Once the carbon credits of this project are determined, ECODES will promote it in CeroCO2 web page to be available in the voluntary carbon market.
